CU – COVERING, DROSSING, DEOXIDIZING, DEGASSING, REFINING, SPECIAL PRODUCTS TO ELIMINATE DETRIMENTAL ELEMENTS, MASTER ALLOYS AND ALLOYING TABLETS

Molten Copper alloys are subject to oxidation, therefore metal has to be protected during melting cycle by proper fluxes, to avoid hydrogen absorption from ambient atmosphere.

During the process, using proper fluxes, mixed with molten metal, allow to eliminate oxides inside molten metal, to improve metallurgical properties.

Drossing fluxes allow to eliminate oxides and dross, created during melting and previous treatments.

Metallurgical treatment improves mechanical properties of the alloy, allow for inclusion free casts, reduces metal inside dross, avoid oxidation during holding time.

The aluminum content in copper or an excess may be an detrimental element; the elimination of this element is required when the presence of excess cause structural change of the alloy or when the presence is in excess with respect to the parameters required by the specific alloy.

Some elements may be incorporated during the preparation of copper alloys, the addition of these elements is required to maintain the parameters required by the specific alloy, the added elements improve the mechanical characteristics, flowability, elongation, strength and allow to produce castings without inclusions.
